Implementation Testing
Workday implementation testing, end to end
A Workday implementation is only as strong as its testing. SaaS Consultants LLC, led by Hadi Lalani, delivers a complete testing lifecycle — from unit tests through payroll parallel testing and go-live validation — so your Workday deployment is accurate, auditable, and on time.
The testing phases we lead
Each phase has a clear purpose, a defined deliverable, and a go/no-go gate. We tailor the depth of each phase to your modules, timeline, and risk tolerance.
1. Unit Testing
Validate each configuration in isolation before it is connected to a larger process.
- Business process configurations: condition rules, notifications, and routing.
- Calculated fields, validations, and custom reports in each module.
- Security domains, roles, and permission policies for the right user access.
- Eligibility rules, pay components, and time-off plans.
2. Integration Testing
Confirm that Workday exchanges data correctly with every connected system.
- Inbound feeds from HRIS, ATS, or legacy systems into Workday.
- Outbound EDI feeds to benefits carriers, banks, and payroll providers.
- Third-party vendor integrations: time clocks, learning platforms, recruiting tools.
- API and EIB orchestration, error handling, and retry logic.
3. System Testing
Run cross-module scenarios to prove the entire Workday ecosystem works together.
- Hire-to-retire, change-job, and compensation workflows across HCM, Payroll, and Benefits.
- Time Tracking and Absence impacts on Payroll and Accruals.
- Compensation cycles feeding payroll and general ledger.
- Reports and dashboards pulling real-time data from multiple modules.
4. User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
Give your business users confidence that Workday meets operational requirements.
- UAT test plans aligned to your business process design documents.
- Role-based test scripts for HR, Payroll, Benefits, Finance, and Managers.
- Defect triage, severity assignment, and Workday Support escalation.
- UAT sign-off criteria and executive readiness reporting.
5. Payroll Parallel Testing
Compare Workday payroll results side-by-side with your legacy system to prove accuracy.
- Parallel pay cycle setup with identical employee populations and inputs.
- Gross-to-net comparison, deduction validation, and tax analysis.
- Retroactive pay, off-cycle, and year-end adjustment scenarios.
- Discrepancy root-cause analysis and remediation tracking.
6. Regression Testing
Protect what already works after configuration changes, updates, or releases.
- Regression suite covering each module and critical business process.
- Post-release and post-change testing after Workday service updates.
- Automated and manual regression packs tailored to your tenant.
- Regression summary reports for audit and leadership review.
7. Security & Compliance Testing
Verify that the right people see the right data and that controls meet audit expectations.
- Role-based security testing for managers, HR, payroll, and executives.
- Sensitive data access reviews and segregation-of-duties checks.
- SOX, HIPAA, and FERPA-aligned control validation where applicable.
- Audit trail and report validation for compliance reporting.
8. Go-Live & Production Validation
Confirm the tenant is ready for real transactions and the first live payroll cycle.
- Final data conversion reconciliation and load verification.
- Smoke tests in production immediately after cutover.
- First live payroll, benefits, and time-off cycle validation.
- Hypercare support plan and knowledge transfer to your team.
Our testing methodology
Test strategy first
We define scope, ownership, entry/exit criteria, and defect severity before writing a single script.
Traceable requirements
Every test maps back to a business requirement so nothing is tested for the sake of testing.
Evidence-based sign-off
Pass/fail results, screenshots, and outcome reports are captured for audit and leadership review.
On-time delivery
Realistic schedules, early defect detection, and experienced execution keep your go-live date intact.
Testing FAQs
Timelines, deliverables, and what we need from your team to run a successful Workday testing program.
1. How long does Workday implementation testing typically take?
Most testing cycles span 10–18 weeks depending on the modules and number of integrations. Unit and integration testing run early, UAT and payroll parallel testing typically take 4–6 weeks, and go-live validation is completed during the final cutover weekend.
2. What deliverables do you provide during the testing phase?
You receive a master test strategy, detailed test scripts, pass/fail evidence and screenshots, a managed defect log with root-cause analysis, payroll parallel comparison reports, UAT sign-off packets, and a final go-live readiness report.
3. What information do we need to provide to start testing?
We need your business process design documents, approved configuration workbook, security role design, integration specifications and sample files, current payroll comparison data, and a list of test users with expected permissions. We also need a testing calendar and your business tester names.
4. Can you test after go-live or only during implementation?
Both. We support testing during the initial implementation and after go-live for annual benefits changes, new integrations, Workday releases, and payroll remediation work.
5. Who runs the tests — your team or ours?
We design the strategy, write scripts, and facilitate the testing. Your business users execute UAT so we capture real operational acceptance, while our team runs technical and integration testing. Hadi Lalani oversees the process and signs off on quality before go-live.

Why testing experience matters
Hadi Lalani has guided Workday testing for 50+ customers since 2015. His team knows where defects hide — in eligibility rules, integration mappings, retro calculations, and security domains — and how to find them early. With SaaS Consultants LLC, testing is not a checkbox; it is the discipline that protects your go-live and your credibility with employees, auditors, and leadership.
